Sanitary Sewer Update

Sewer and Water Projects--2008

Highland Township has announced a bid period for sanitary sewer and watermain installations to serve much of our Downtown Development District, including the Highland Station Area.  This project is seen as a key to opening development opportunities for the DDA.

The sanitary sewer project includes two subprojects:  one to serve Lower Pettibone Lake properties with a low pressure grinder pump system; another to replace the community septic systems at Prestwick with municipal service.  It includes five pump stations and nearly four miles of force main.

The water project serves only properties south of Milford Road, as certain properties in the DDA District were served through previous projects.

The wastewater treatment plant, a new wellhouse, water treatment plant and elevated storage tank will be constructed north of Clyde Road, on property owned by the Edw. C. Levy Co.  Those projects will be advertised for bid once the final permits are in hand.

Contractors may obtain construction plans in early August, and bids are due mid-September.  Click here to view the advertisement for bids, published in the Milford Times and Michigan Contractor and Builder.

It is anticipated that construction for the wastewater and water system
improvements will take approximately one year for completion and acceptance.
Service could begin late in 2009.

Continue to check back on our website for future project updates.  Property
owners in the Special Assessment Districts will receive mailings as public
hearings are scheduled.
