Garbage Collection

Highland Township contracts with Richfield Management, L.L.C. (RM) for regular trash pick-up and recycling services for all residential customers in the Township. Trash collection is funded through a special assessment, which is billed through your property tax bill. This entitles residents to unlimited regular trash collection, subject to the following conditions:

- Items for collection must be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.
Click here for a map of the Township indicating your collection day.
- Your refuse must be placed in watertight 32-gallon or less containers with handles.
90 gallon carts are permitted if the garbage is all bagged-NO LOOSE GARBAGE IN THESE CANS.
- You may also use 30 gallon trash bags.
- The weight of the can or bag must not exceed 60 pounds.
- Building materials are not covered under our contract.
Contact RM for price and pick-up schedule and instructions. 1-877-609-6753

RM does collect large household items each week with your regular pick-up. No advanced notice is needed. Simply place the item at the curb. Items include carpet (rolled in 4 foot bundles), furniture and mattresses.

Large appliances will be picked up on Tuesdays, provided the resident calls in by Friday. Be sure to get a ticket number.

Refrigerators/freezers and air conditioners must be labeled with a sticker showing that the freon has been removed by a licensed contractor.

Unless you are notified by RM, there will be no collection on the following six holidays:

- New Year's Day
- Memorial Day
- July 4th
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day

If your collection day falls on or after the holiday in a given week, your pickup will be one day behind.

Curbside pick-up of Christmas trees is made on your regular trash pick-up December 26th - January 15th. All trees and greens shall be unbagged, and all decorations, tinsel and wire must be removed.
