Building Department staff work with property owners and builders to navigate the construction permitting process and to administer and enforce the Building Codes.

The Building Codes have been established for the health, safety and welfare of the community. When the codes are followed, our buildings are safely constructed for the greatest protection against fire, and health safety issues such as cross connection of water systems or electrical system safety, just to name a few.

The Building Department watches over current building projects to make sure that the codes are being met, which include the Building Code, the Plumbing, Electrical and Mechanical Codes. Code enforcement plays a significant role in the development of the community not only in the construction of new buildings and structures, but also in the renovation and repair of older buildings and structures.

The Building Department also includes the Ordinance Department, which enforces the general ordinances of the Township.
