Voter Registration/Election

State law requires that each person use the same address on their driver's license as on their voter's registration. The Secretary of State has instituted a "Qualified Voter File" (QVF) which cross-references this information, and provides the convenience of changing their voter's registration with the same form used to change the information on the driver's license. Click here to access a change of address form (Return form to Township Clerk at address noted at bottom of this webpage).

The Clerk's office works with this state database to maintain voter's records, issue identification cards, absentee ballots and ballots on election day.

You may check your personal voter's registration information for accuracy, view sample ballots and view instructions on using our "OpTech", optical voting equipment at the Secretary of State Voter Information Center.

To determine where to go to vote, click here to view the Highland Township Voting Precinct Map.

Absent voter ballots are available for all elections. They provide a convenient method for casting a ballot if you are unable to attend the polls on election day or click here for a form.

As a registered voter, you may obtain an absent voter ballot if you are:
- age 60 years old or older
- unable to vote without assistance at the polls
- expecting to be out of town on election day
- in jail awaiting arraignment or trial
- unable to attend the polls due to religious reasons
- appointed to work as an election inspector in a precinct outside of your precinct of residence.

Your request for an absent voter ballot must be in writing. Your request must include one of the six statutory reasons stated above, your birthday (month date and year) and your signature. You may request an absent voter ballot with a letter or post card, or you can obtain a pre-printed application form at the Clerk's office. Requests to have an absent voter ballot mailed to you must be submitted no later than 2 p.m. the Saturday before the election.

Precinct workers (who assist voters at the polls on election day) are hired through the Clerk's office. If you are interested in serving your Township in this way, please contact our office.
